ST. TRESA’S TEACHER TRAINING INSTITUTE, KUMBALAM A BRIEF HISTORY OF VALIYAVILA FOUNDATIONAND IT’S ST. TRESA’S TTI, KUMBALAM
Valiyavila Foundation is aprominent Registered Charitable Trust,Reg. No. IV – 66 in 2001 and an NGO No. KL/2021/0281463founded by Dr. Joseph D. Fernandez, and its operations continue to flow to various fields, mostly in education. There are nine trustees in this Trust who manage it.The Trust works in several villages of Kollam District.
In Kumbalam Village the schoolis known by the name St. Joseph International Academy, following ICSE syllabus established in 2002. In Chittumala, it is known as St. Joseph International School, following CBSE syllabus established in 2006 and in Muttom, it is a state syllabus school called St.Joseph’s Model LP School established on 1949 and the Trust acquired it in 2013.
More than one thousand students attend these schools, which aim to mold socially responsible leaders for the nation.
We have a four-storey hostel with over 45 rooms in the Kumbalam Campus housing students and staff. We also have approval for a B.Ed college named St. Tresa’s College of Education in Kumbalam and a Teacher training institute called St. Tresa’s Teacher Training Institute (St. Tresa’s TTI) in Kumbalam.
The Trust also has a charity wing called “St. Joseph Homes” with 12 Managing Council members. The main activities of the wing is to help the poorest people around the school area like building and providing houses, buying house plots for the those devoid of land to build the above mentioned houses, providing maintenance for dilapidated houses, give food, give treatment help for terminally ill patients and Scholarships for better education for poor bright students.
